dc.description.abstract In this study, metallic nanoparticles of copper were synthesized by the green method using an aqueous solution of Solenostemma argel extract. The extract was mixed well with cupric nitrate trihydrate. The plant extract acts as both a reducing and stabilizing agent. The prepared nanoparticles are found to be stable in the aqueous solution of the plant extract over seven months at room temperature (25 °C). The prepared copper nanoparticles were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and UV-vis spectrum analysis. The scanning electron micrograph showed spherical nanoparticles in 30-50 nm size. These nanoparticles exhibited surface Plasmon absorption resonance (SPR) in the visible region. Also, they exhibited interesting anti-bacterial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. en_US
